English Bulldog Puppies for Sale in Buckeye, AZ

BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — Deputies said they seized nearly a dozen animals that they say were living in deplorable conditions at a property in the far West Valley.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said that it received reports of possible animal abuse and neglect near 301st Avenue and Bellview Street in Buckeye on Wednesday, which prompted detectives with the Animal Crimes Unit to investigate.

At the home, investigators said they found “numerous animals and livestock living in horrific conditions.” Some of which were described as “dead or barely clinging to life.”

In a video posted on Facebook on Thursday, deputies were seen entering the home where three dogs were left unattended. Once inside, footage showed one dog lying unconscious.

The social media clip also showed a horse that showed signs of being in poor health, and the video also showed two birds and a sheep lying dead in the backyard.

As a result, medical staff with MCSO’s Animal Crimes Unit worked to treat the injured or neglected animals and get them to safety. In total, one horse, three sheep, three adult dogs, a puppy, and one bird were seized.

Authorities didn’t state whether anyone was arrested, but said charges are pending following a “full and thorough investigation.”

On social media, MCSO urged the public to report if they believe an animal is in danger by calling deputies at 602-876-TIPS (8477) or submitting an online tip.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The West Valley got hit hard with heavy rain and what looked like snow, but was actually hail, on Wednesday and more storms are on the way.

We have extended the First Alert Weather Day through Thursday for a couple of reasons.

The flood watch, which includes portions of the north Valley like Scottsdale, Deer Valley neighborhood, Cave Creek and more, has been extended until 6 a.m. In addition, overnight rain chances have also increased to 45% to 70% through the early morning hours.

That means Valley workers could see a wet commute on Thursday morning.

A string of thunderstorms moved from the southwest, going from the Avondale and Tolleson areas to Glendale and Peoria on Wednesday afternoon.

Several viewers recorded video of heavy rain and hail that covered the streets. The severe weather caused the partial roof collapse of Desert Sky Mall in west Phoenix. Dozens were evacuated.

The wet weather also caused some delays at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. The FAA reportedly issued a ground stop for flights heading to the Valley but it was canceled just before 6 p.m. Some flights departing from Phoenix were experiencing delays of up to an hour or more.

At the height of the storm, more than 6,600 SRP customers didn’t have electricity, mostly in Glendale and west Phoenix. Less than 450 APS customers were without power at the same time. Fewer than 800 customers from both companies don’t have power as of 9 p.m.

Because of Tuesday’s rain, the ground is saturated, and any additional rainfall could lead to flooding.

Temperatures will stay in the mid-60s for the next few days, until the 70s return next week with drier conditions.

Thursday afternoon should be dry in the Valley.

For the High Country, snow levels will drop to around 6500 feet through Thursday, with another 1-2″ possible for areas like Flagstaff. Heavier accumulations are possible in eastern Arizona from the Rim to the White Mountains as the system shifts east overnight.

One to four inches of rain above 7,000 feet is possible through Thursday. Then, another system moves into the state right on the heels of this storm. Another Pacific weather system will move eastward toward our region Thursday night, bringing more moisture into the state and increasing rain chances in western Arizona early Friday morning.

Right now, rain chances are around 30% for the Valley on Saturday and Sunday. Rainfall amounts are still uncertain. By next week, expect quieter conditions and highs back in the 70s.

BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — As rain made its way into the area, multiple roads were closed Tuesday in the far West Valley due to flooding.

Maricopa County reports that the following closures are in effect (as of 11:00 p.m.) due to water on the road:

Drivers are encouraged to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” and not attempt to drive through flooded roads. MCSO advised drivers in the area to look for alternate routes.

The Salome Highway was previously closed in both directions between 351st and 339th avenues, but the county says it reopened around 11 a.m.

Over the next two days, up to two inches of rain is possible in the Phoenix area, particularly in the higher elevations just north of the Valley.

This storm system is set to push out of Arizona on Thursday, but we’re watching another storm that could move in for Friday and the weekend.

Weather affects flights

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop at Phoenix Sky Harbor around 8:15 a.m. due to weather.

The ground stop was lifted around 9 a.m., but a ground delay was still in place. Only arriving flights were affected by the ground stop.

Arizona’s Family has reached out to FAA and Sky Harbor officials for more information on the delays.

North of the Valley, Mother Nature forced the closure of a popular spot to see animals. Out of Africa Wildlife Park and Sanctuary said in a social media post that it’ll be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. They hope to reopen on Thursday.

Christmas came early for the stakeholders of Buckeye master-planned community, Teravalis. They celebrated the ceremonial ribbon cutting and grand opening during a private ceremony on Nov. 14.

Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn said he is thrilled about the opening and partnering with JDM Partners and Howard Hughes Holdings.

“They’re the largest master plan developer in the country,” he said. “You look at their projects that exist and it doesn’t get much better.”

Gov. Katie Hobbs seemingly seconded that thought. The project will house about 300,000 Arizonans who will create their own memories and build their lives.

For example, she said in 1976, her parents bought a home here for $40,000.

“It was a home where my siblings and I could grow up, where we could make memories and build a life as a family,” Hobbs said.

“It wasn’t always easy, but with hard work, my parents built a good life for us, it’s about time that we make that life a reality for more Arizonans, and so that more Arizonans can have an affordable quality of life.”

She added Arizona needs to build more homes and lower the cost of housing. Hobbs wants every Arizonan to enjoy the stability and security of a home to call their own.

Hobbs also discussed the state’s water future.

“Despite what some might say, we can make homeownership a reality for more Arizonans while protecting our water future,” Hobbs said.

“This community will be a testament to the fact that water sustainability and growth are not tradeoffs. They go hand in hand. Growth cannot happen without water sustainability, and that is why I’m so pleased to see the innovative water conservation measures that Howard Hughes is employing right here.”

The “booming semiconductor ecosystem” led by TSMC, Intel and Amkor are calling for more housing. Before Hobbs took office, the Department of Housing estimated that the state needed to add 270,000 housing units to catch up with the population growth. Maricopa County added more housing units in 2024 than any other county in the nation.

“The economy has boomed,” Hobbs said.

“Our population has boomed along with it. The state has doubled in size since the 1980s and the city of Buckeye is nearly 20 times larger than it was in 2000 and the city is not even 20% of the way to being fully built out.”

Stakeholders gathered on Nov. 14 at Teravalis, a master-planned community in Buckeye, for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and Besides Hobbs and Orsborn, stakeholders included David O’Reilly, CEO of Howard Hughes; Charley Freericks, president of the Arizona Region for Howard Hughes Communities; and Jerry Colangelo of JDM Partners.

The party continues Saturday, Nov. 15, with Floreo Fest at Teravalis, a public grand opening when visitors can tour 20 model homes by seven builders. Century Communities, Courtland Communities, DRB Homes, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, and New Home Co. have partnered with Teravalis.

Floreo Fest follows the recent groundbreaking of the community’s 22,000-square-foot Echo Community Center and marks the beginning of decades of growth west of the White Tank Mountains.

“It’s a momentous first for the history of this region,” said Charley Freericks, president of the Arizona region, Howard Hughes Communities.

“It’s a commitment of many of us to get here today. Most of all, it’s the beginning of a bold new chapter in Arizona’s growth. It’s a 37,000-acre vision built around innovation, sustainability and community.”

O’Reilly said Howard Hughes Holdings is excited about the project’s progress.

“This has been years in the making, and to think about all the progress that has been made in just such a short period of time is nothing short of remarkable.”

He introduced Hobbs, saying, “She’s truly keeping the legacy of westward expansion alive and well.”

Colangelo brokered the $600 million deal in the West Valley, and recruited Howard Hughes there.

“You dream big. You don’t dream small,” Colangelo said in a brief presentation. “I want to go back 20 some years ago when my two partners and I came out to look at this property, and it was never a matter of, if it was only a matter of when.”

Howard Hughes Communities’ Kate Kaminski said she is proud of the partnership.

“We have hit the lottery with this team that’s out here,” she said.

“Buckeye has and always will be committed to smart, sustainable growth, growth that creates opportunities while protecting the natural beauty and character of this land. Terra balance embodies that vision perfectly.”

Buckeye is attracting major projects and industries that bring thousands of jobs and long-term economic strength, Orsborn said.

“Teravalis will play a role in that growth. We were just talking about that this morning, creating not only beautiful places to live, but also new commercial and employment centers that attract business investment, support local schools, churches and sustain the region for generations.
