JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Newly released video shows what happened during the arrest of a Jacksonville woman accused of kicking a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.

Action News Jax told you Thursday that Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier , saying “This is Jennifer Cruz of Jacksonville. Jennifer disagrees with immigration enforcement and decided to commit a few felonies by getting out of her car and punching a Trooper in the face.”

Cruz was arrested Tuesday and is facing eight felony charges and six misdemeanors as a result of that incident.

One video shows that Cruz was tasered when she was put in the back of the patrol car after kicking at officers.

FHP Executive Director Dave Kerner issued the following statement along with dashcam videos from the arrest:

“On January 13, 2026, Jennifer Cruz interfered with joint federal and state law enforcement operations, in violation of Florida law. State Troopers later attempted to detain Ms. Cruz, who then fled from State Troopers. Once detained, she committed battery of law enforcement, injuring a State Trooper who required hospitalization.

“Ms. Cruz was arrested on felony charges and continued to resist and batter state and federal officers.

“State Troopers, and all Florida state and local law enforcement, will always ensure our federal law enforcement partners can execute on their lawful law enforcement duties without risk of injury or interference. Florida will not tolerate unlawful interference in any law enforcement operation and will act swiftly and forcefully to protect our federal law enforcement partners and the public at large.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was in Jacksonville on Thursday and had harsh words for Cruz.

“This is not Minneapolis. That is not going to end well for you in Florida,” he said.

An anti-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agitator in Florida was arrested after allegedly punching a trooper in the face during an immigration enforcement operation.

"This is Jennifer Cruz of Jacksonville," Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier wrote in an X post, sharing an image of the woman, who appeared to smile as law enforcement restrained her.

Moments before she cracked a grin, video shows Cruz kicking toward a female officer while other law enforcement members had already placed her hands behind her back.

"Jennifer disagrees with immigration enforcement and decided to commit a few felonies by getting out of her car and punching a Trooper in the face. But unlike Minnesota, we don’t put up with this nonsense. Not today, Jennifer," Uthmeier wrote.

Footage shows a chaotic scene as authorities attempted to detain Cruz. As several officers placed her hands behind her back and walked her toward one of their vehicles, Cruz is seen attempting to kick another female officer nearby. Cruz then smirks as the officers detaining her place her on the hood of a vehicle. Once placed in the back of the vehicle, she is seen flailing her legs and continuing to shout at officers until the doors are shut.

A News4JAX reporter spoke to Juan Alvarez, the owner of the Mi Pueblo grocery store which was near where the incident occurred. He said he witnessed a traffic stop involving a state trooper.

"ICE agents showed up with the state trooper. They detained the driver," he said.

"And so yeah, they had an operation going on. And after that, they had detained another person. But it seems they got into an altercation with that person. It turned violent," he said, noting that more law enforcement showed up.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis shared Uthmeier's post and wrote, "Really bad decision to attack one of our troopers. This isn’t Minneapolis…"

DeSantis also mentioned the incident at an unrelated press conference on Thursday.

"I do know that there was a woman who came out and assaulted one of our troopers," DeSantis said. "Let me just tell you guys this is not Minneapolis. That is not going to end well for you in Florida."

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., quipped in a post, "Never go full Jennifer."

"This is how it’s done. In Florida, we respect law enforcement and have no patience for far-left extremists who choose to defend dangerous criminals instead of their fellow Americans. This isn’t Minneapolis. In Florida, if you break the law, you will pay the consequences," Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., asserted on X.

Jennifer Cruz was arrested on Tuesday for several charges, including assaulting law enforcement officers and resisting with violence.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman is facing more than a dozen charges after allegedly attacking law enforcement officers during a confrontation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Jennifer Cruz was booked into the Duval County jail on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

In a post on X, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier posted a photo showing Cruz being restrained by ICE agents in front of Mi Pueblo, a Mexican grocery store and meat market on Beach Boulevard.

"Jennifer disagrees with immigration enforcement and decided to commit a few felonies by getting out of her car and punching a Trooper in the face," Uthmeier wrote. "But unlike Minnesota, we don’t put up with this nonsense. Not today, Jennifer."

Her charges include multiple counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting officers with violence and a count of threatening harm to officers, among others.

According to a release by the Department of Justice, Cruz had seen agents in the process of conducting a traffic stop and pulled out her cellphone to record while driving.

Agents approached Cruz, where the DOJ says agents spoke to her "about using her cell phone while driving," to which she is described as having been "argumentative and standoffish."

The DOJ says that when viewing Cruz's driver's license, agents noted that it had been suspended since June 2025. Shortly after, Cruz is said to have driven away before agents followed and attempted to detain her.

After her vehicle was boxed in, the DOJ says that an agent had attempted to retrieve her keys before she "struck the trooper in the face with a closed fist" after stating that she was "ready to go." She was placed detained moments after.

The arrest comes as confrontations between ICE agents and citizens appear to be increasing due to unrest over an increase in enforcement and the deadly shooting of Renee Good by an agent in Minneapolis.

People on social media have been warning for days about ICE activity in areas of Jacksonville. A City of Jacksonville employee was placed on administrative leave for an alleged social media policy violation after speaking about it on Instagram Live. Hispanic Outreach Coordinator Yanira "Yaya" Cardona claimed ICE was placing speed traps around the city, and stated that immigration officers have been seen on Emerson Street, Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard.

She bonded out of jail on Wednesday.

For the last week, computer models have been hinting at a snow event for north Florida. What are the chances we get some?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It's been just about one year since the record snowfall in Florida's panhandle.

Back on Jan. 21-22, 2025, some towns in the panhandle got nearly 10 inches of snow. Unheard of!

There were even some flakes to fall in north Florida, as Jacksonville International Airport registered .10" of wintry precipitation, and Waycross got a dusting. A similar coating of snow took place for Waycross back in 2018 as well.

Don't get your hopes up for a similar event this weekend. However, it's possible a few flakes fly well west of our area and up in Southeast Georgia.

Consistently this week, major global models have been signaling the possibility of snowfall in Florida and in Southeast Georgia, so much so that it has become viral on social media. Even our in house model, called the GRAF (Global High-Resolution Atmospheric Forecasting System), has shown the same.

The issues for seeing any snow locally will be temperatures ahead of the system moving in late Saturday night into Sunday morning. We are looking at high temperatures Saturday afternoon near 70 degrees. Warm air will be moving in, making temperatures at or near the surface too warm to get snow in Jacksonville. So it looks like a cold, rainy day Sunday for Northeast Florida.

However, for the snow lovers and flake chasers out there, the temperature profile in the mid levels of the atmosphere will be cool enough to form some flakes in places like Ware and Pierce counties. So, Waycross and Blackshear have the best chance of seeing a brief flurry Sunday morning.

As far as Florida goes, it looks like some towns in the Panhandle, primarily Tallahassee and west could get some snowfall, too. Something to keep in mind if you have to drive west on I-10 this weekend.

Accumulations would be impossible, considering surface temperatures will be too warm. However, in Ware and Pierce counties, a few flakes could stick on some elevated, cold surfaces like hoods of cold cars and patio furniture.

Otherwise, we're just looking at a cold, rainy Sunday for the area with the small chance (Hope, for some?) of a brief flurry in inland Southeast Georgia and the western Panhandle of Florida.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., defended Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday after a Jacksonville official was placed on administrative leave for warning people about their presence in the city.

The City of Jacksonville’s Hispanic Outreach Coordinator, Yanira "Yaya" Cardona, was placed on administrative leave, after she said on an Instagram livestream Wednesday that ICE was placing "speed traps" around the city and named specific roads to watch out for.

When Fox News Digital reached DeSantis' office for comment, it referred to a press conference the governor held on Thursday, where he vowed to uphold the rule of law.

"I know you had that one woman in the city of Jacksonville government putting out information. Look, that’s not the way we roll here in the state of Florida. You know, we’re going to respect law enforcement, respect the rule of law,"

DeSantis added that Jennifer Cruz, a woman accused of assaulting ICE agents while on duty, would face "consequences."

"I do know there was a woman who came out and assaulted one of our troopers. Let me just tell you guys, this is not Minneapolis. That is not going to end well for you in Florida," he said.

Cardona added that "ICE is out and about" and is targeting lawn care and A/C companies while checking for paperwork.

She said that "unfortunately, this isn't the time to fight" and advised her viewers to comply if addressed by authorities.

"The best advice that I could give you guys is if you don't need to go out, stay home," Cardona said. "Just comply, have a plan in place, and rely on the universe 'cause we're here."

In the same Instagram post, Cardona wrote additional guidance on how to handle increased immigration enforcement.

"We are living in very difficult times but my best advice is 1. Have a plan in place with your lawyers 2. Give someone you trust legal power for your business and your children 3. If you get pulled over, please pay attention and follow the instructions/orders."

The City of Jacksonville told Fox News Digital that the "general locations shared in her video were common knowledge from community sightings already reported on news stories and social media." City officials also referred to comments made by Deegan at a press conference discussing the matter on Thursday night.

"We are a city of immigrants. We probably have more immigrants than most cities in the country. And a lot of them are frightened right now. They're having a very difficult time. They're seeing what's happening around the country. They've seen American citizens sometimes being detained and arrested. They are seeing some violence. They're worried. They're scared," Deegan said.

Deegan explained further that Cardona being placed on administrative leave had nothing to do with the "content of what came out of her mouth."

"I don't have any problem. We checked with the general counsel's office. Nothing that she shared said anything about anyone who was here illegally. It was simply giving the community information that was freely available and also giving information about their legal rights," Deegan said. She continued, "Get representation. Make sure you have a plan. She said a dozen times, if you are stopped, comply. So, it wasn't the content of what she said that I took issue with. The reason that she was put on administrative leave is because we have a policy in this city."

"We've got a mayor who is the spokesperson for the city, and we have people who follow the policy that if you are going to create any sort of social media content, if you are going to make any sort of commentary, especially in this office, that would be construed as coming from the mayor—That has to come through me or through our communications office. Period."
