Trial

It's Science, Not Trial and Error

Our cherished bulldog, Bruiser, was a unique boy. He stood out from other dogs. Like Bruiser, IrresistiBulls stands out from other breeders because we base our breeding practices on science and careful consideration.

Our goal isn't just about selling English bulldog puppies. It's to ensure that every puppy we breed excels in health, temperament, intelligence, and obedience. We don't rely on trial and error, which often yields more errors than successes. Extensive research underpins our methods to guarantee the best possible outcomes. Our dedication extends not only to the families welcoming our puppies into their homes but also to the well-being and quality of life of the puppies themselves. That's the IrresistiBulls difference.

Breeding any dog, especially English bulldogs, poses health concerns. We make every effort to breed English bulldogs with the desirable genetic traits while working to eliminate those that could result in health problems. The key is to avoid breeding puppies that are closely related and could potentially have genetic abnormalities.

Unfortunately, some breeders are either irresponsible or lack an understanding of the complexities involved in producing healthy English bulldog lines. We only breed dogs with the best-quality lineages and never take unnecessary risks by breeding dogs with overly similar ancestry. This approach safeguards not only our business but also the well-being of the puppies and the families who welcome them into their homes.

Create a Safe Space

Choose a cozy and secure spot in your home for your bulldog puppy to relax and feel at ease. You might want to opt for a crate or a puppy playpen to create a snug and den-like space for them.

Supplies

Stock Up on Supplies

Gather essential supplies such as water and food, nutritious and high-quality puppy food, a leash and a collar, bedding, chew toys, and grooming items. If you're worried about overdoing it, don't fret. It's better to be overprepared and have extra than to be underprepared and need more supplies.

Puppy-Proof Your Property

It's important to get your home ready for your new bulldog puppies before they arrive. English bulldog pups are inquisitive by nature and love to play, so expect some high-energy bonding early on. Settling

Settling In After the First Few Days

During the initial days following the arrival of your bulldog puppy, it's essential to focus on establishing a nurturing environment and a consistent routine to build a strong bond. Here are some helpful tips to help your puppy settle in smoothly.

Routine

Get a Routine Going ASAP

If there's one thing bulldogs thrive on (besides nutritious, yummy food), it's a routine. After you've been with your new bulldog puppy for a few days, try creating a schedule. Plan out time for eating, bathroom breaks, training, and playing. We should note that it's important to create a schedule that can be incorporated into your family's routine. You don't need to rearrange your life, but you will need to cater to your new doggo to an extent.

Remain Calm

Try to Remain Calm and Patient

If you had to move to a new home when you were very young, you probably have an idea how a bulldog puppy would feel, too. It can be overwhelming - not just for your bulldog, but for you too. That's why you should try to be as patient and calm as possible while your new addition gets acclimated to their new surroundings.

Whether you're an experienced dog owner or a newcomer, bringing your puppy into their new home should be nothing but a joyful occasion. At IrresistiBulls, we're happy to help make sure you don't go home in a tizzy. That way, you can focus on spending time with your bulldog puppy and creating a loving home from day one.

Generally speaking, bulldogs are great pets for kids. That's because they're incredibly calm, fiercely devoted, and, well, lazy. A screaming, tugging child doesn't faze them. They'll even let little ones dress them in cowboy hats and tutus without batting an eye.

 Family-friendly Bulldogs Lee's Summit, MO

Owning a bulldog means there's rarely a dull moment in your home. Whether they're snoring so loud it puts your sleep apnea to shame or interrupting your thoughts with a little flatulence, English bulldogs will make you smile even if you're in a bad mood.

Make no mistake - bulldogs must get exercise to remain healthy. However, when given the choice, many bulldogs would rather curl up on the couch with you than go for a multi-mile run.

If you think breeds like border collies get all the credit for being smart, think again. Have you ever seen a border collie ride a skateboard or surf a wave? Probably not - but bulldogs are known for such feats. That's due in part to their low center of gravity, but it's mostly because bulldogs are so cool.

Friday was district championships night for high school football across the Show Me State.

Teams played some close games for those titles, too. Winners stayed alive in the prep postseason.

Here’s a look at some of Friday evening’s action in playoff games across the Kansas City metro.

Platte County 29, Rockhurst 22

Since the moment districts were announced early in the season, Friday’s district final was earmarked as a marquee contest: Rockhurst had dropped to Class 5, into the same district as defending Class 5 champion Platte County.

And the showdown lived up to the hype.

Rockhurst scored a potential game-winning touchdown with 1:47 left. But that was too much time — 1:45 too much — to leave for Rocco Marriott on the other sideline.

Marriott, the likely Kansas City player of the year, and Platte County engineered a game-winning drive in the final seconds to top Rockhurst for the Class 5, District 8 title.

Rockhurst (9-3) took a 22-21 lead with 1:47 remaining. On fourth down, quarterback Garret Miller found tight end Warren Robertson over the middle at midfield. Robertson shelled a tackler and raced to the end zone.

But Marriott and Platte County, who’s closest game this season was a 31-point win over Grain Valley in Week 2, was up to the challenge. Marriott immediately connected with Ty Christopher for a 21-yard gain, then took a keeper up the middle and weaved left for a 12-yard run.

After an incomplete pass, Marriott threw a ball that was deflected back to — himself. The senior James Madison commit ran for nine yards to the 12 with 19 seconds left. The Pirates then rolled Marriott to the right behind a wall of defenders; seeing no open target, Marriott rushed and lunged with Pirates pushing him to the 1.

Just six seconds remained. Instead of going for the field goal, Platte County opted for a try at a TD. Marriott took the snap and crossed the goal line in front of a frenzied crowd. The two-point conversion was good, too.

Platte County (11-0), which hadn’t lost since 2023, trailed 12-0 in the first half after Marriott threw two interceptions. Meanwhile, Rockhurst hit two field goals and a long bomb to Tristan Johnson for 85 yards to lead 12-0.

Marriott and the Pirates got warmed up with a 34-yard TD pass to Christopher with 3:24 left in the third quarter, followed by a stop and a 14-yard TD pass to KU pledge Jack Utz. That made it 13-12 Pirates with 2:13 remaining in the third period.

Rockhurst retook the lead at 15-13 on a 30-yard field goal with 8:03 to play. But Marriott scored on a 10-yard keeper and the two-point conversion to Tres Baskerville made it 21-15 with 3:38 to go.

Platte County will travel to Grain Valley (8-3) in the Class 5 quarterfinals at 7 p.m. next Friday.

Lee’s Summit 42, North Kansas City 21

It’s not how you start, its how you finish. And Lee’s Summit is finishing strong.

Lee’s Summit, which endured numerous early season injuries en route to an 0-4 start, raced past North Kansas City for the Missouri Class 6, District 8 title in Northtown.

Preston Hatfield ran for two touchdowns, threw for two TDs and ran a kickoff back for a score. Karsten Fiene added two TDs, one receiving and one rushing.

Lee’s Summit (7-4) won its seventh straight game and will face Liberty in the Class 6 quarterfinals.

After Fiene and North Kansas City’s Sam Zinnah traded rushing TDs, Hatfield took a kickoff 95 yards to the house for a 14-7 lead with 6:04 remaining until halftime. Then he took a handoff and lobbed a pass in the right flat to Fiene, who jetted down the sideline for a 98-yard TD and 21-7 Lee’s Summit lead at halftime.

North Kansas City pulled to within 7, at 21-14, on Kobe Rhymes’ TD plunge. But Hatfield again took a snap and fired a scoring pass — this time to twin brother Peyton Hatfield from 21 yards out.

Preston Hatfield kept trucking for a 13-yard TD that made it 35-14 to open the final quarter. And then he scored yet another TD to cap the Tigers’ scoring.

Lee’s Summit plays host to Liberty (10-1) at 7 p.m. next Friday as the postseason continues.

Liberty 45, Liberty North 31

Liberty kept on streaking in Friday night’s district final.

The Blue Jays won their fourth straight game against rival Liberty North, clinching the Class 6, District 7 crown. Andrew Olson ran for 168 yards and a touchdown, while Colt Nolin added 99 yards and two scores as Liberty rolled up 309 rushing yards.

Liberty (10-1) advanced to its first semifinal under coach Chad Frigon last year and now stands a win away from consecutive final four appearances.

The Blue Jays built a 31-7 lead after two TDs each from Nolin and QB Connor Hatfield. But Liberty North — which had a six-game winning streak vs. LHS before the Jays’ current run — drew to 31-17 on a nine-yard TD run by Zemar Cheatam.

Cheatam finished with a game-high 177 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Liberty North got the ball back, but then Logan Sutton picked off an Eagles pass and returned the ball 47 yards for a TD that made it 38-17.

Liberty will visit Lee’s Summit (7-4) at 7 p.m. next Friday in the Class 6 quarterfinals.

Kearney 24, Savannah 0

Kearney showed why it’s a favorite to win the Class 4 state title with its usual formula of stout defense and bruising ground game.

The host Bulldogs shut out visiting Savannah to win Class 4, District 8 title Friday. Emmons Corbin rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries. His touchdowns covered 55, 6 and 12 yards.

Meanwhile, Savannah gained just 159 yards as a team.

Kearney (11-0) travels to Warrensburg (8-3) next Saturday, Nov. 22.

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. — A proposed 77-acre development near U.S. Route 50 and Missouri Route 291, that includes a Costco and hundreds of housing units, is moving forward in Lee's Summit.

The Lee's Summit Planning Commission approved the project's Phase 1 preliminary proposal on Nov. 14.

The proposal included several different topics, including a traffic study, neighborhood meetings and outlined plans for the new Costco.

The plan includes over 3,000 parking spots in Phase 1, along with restaurants and apartments.

The residents in the neighborhood just south of where the development would go shared mixed reactions to the plans.

One common concern among neighbors is the extra traffic the development will bring.

"Of course seen the changes between infrastructure here," said Ethan Peplow. He works in the area and said it's something he can learn to live with.

Carl Kern lives near where the project will go. He welcomes the potential changes to his neighborhood.

"I'm not afraid of it," Kern said. "I've been around and I've lived at enough places that I know it's going to change the atmosphere here, but that's just part of what you got to pay for, I guess, to get something closer to you."

Kern sees the benefits in the development and says he looks forward to closer shopping opportunities.

"I think it'd be nice," Kern said. "I wouldn't have to drive all the way to Timbuktu to shop at Costco."

When asked what having a Costco in Lee's Summit would say about the area, Kern said he sees positives.

"That it's growing, it's growing. And I don't think it's going to stop growing," Kern said.

However, not all neighbors share Kern's excitement for the expansion.

Norma Hackney shared several concerns about the development's impact on her community.

"There's a lot of concerns for us," Hackney said.

Hackney said increased traffic, safety issues, and flooding problems that her neighborhood already faces are some of her top concerns.

She also asked about the schools and if they can manage a large increase in new families in Lee's Summit.

The concerns have led her to consider a move.

"I'm ready to move," Hackney said.

It's a decision she doesn't want to make, but fears could become necessary.

Hackney said she's dedicated over 30 years to Lee's Summit building a life in the area.

"I lost my husband in the house and we've had great memories here," Hackney said. "I love Lee's Summit. It's been my home, but just can't see, you know, seeing all these buildings everywhere when there used to be life."

Several steps remain before construction can begin on either phase of the development. Phase 1 will go to City Council for approval, while Phase 2 is expected to be presented at the Planning Commission meeting in December.
