The Milwaukee Bucks are 18-27 on the year following their 139-122 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. Now, trade rumors involving Giannis Antetokounmpo are swirling again, many are preparing for another prolonged dark period of Bucks basketball. Indeed, a great deal has gone wrong in Milwaukee since they won the 2020-21 NBA Championship.

Khris Middleton, who was a three-time All-Star with the Bucks, hurt his knee in the 2022 NBA Playoffs and was never the same player. Mike Budenholzer, who coached their Championship team, was fired two years after they won it all. Giannis missed time in the postseason in multiple years due to injury. Adrian Griffin was fired after a 30-13 start. Damian Lillard tore his Achilles in the postseason last year after missing weeks with a blood clot.

And, no matter what the front office or head coach Doc Rivers have done, Milwaukee just keeps losing and underachieving.

Jae Crowder blames the Milwaukee Bucks hiring Doc Rivers for their downfall

One of the many moves that the Bucks made in hopes of returning to the NBA Finals was sending five second round picks to the Phoenix Suns for Jae Crowder.

Crowder’s time in Milwaukee did not go as well as anyone hoped, and when Rivers was hired as coach, he barely played at all.

Perhaps it is no surprise, then, that the former Bucks and Marquette star points to the arrival of Rivers on the Bucks bench as the point at which Milwaukee started to decline:

One needs only check out the social media of Bucks fans to see that this is an opinion that is shared by many. Indeed, Rivers went 17-19 in his first half season with Milwaukee, 48-34 last year, and is currently 18-27 this season. His overall record with the Bucks is 83-80.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Lake effect snow may impact southeastern Wisconsin from early Friday through Saturday, increasing the risk of slick travel along lakeshore roadways and during peak commute periods.

According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan, conditions are favorable for two rounds of lake effect snow showers, with the first developing early Friday morning through Friday afternoon, followed by another possible round Saturday morning into the afternoon. The greatest impacts are expected in lakeshore counties, including areas near Interstate 43, Interstate 94, and Interstate 794.

Forecast guidance shows a 65 to 85 percent chance of at least one inch of snow along portions of the Lake Michigan shoreline, with a 30 to 60 percent chance of two inches or more, especially from Racine and Kenosha north toward Milwaukee. Farther inland, including Madison and Jefferson County, snow chances drop off significantly.

The NWS noted that wind direction will play a key role in determining where snow bands set up and how long they persist. Small shifts could result in snowfall staying confined to the immediate lakeshore or lingering longer over urban areas.

While snowfall totals are not expected to be extreme, lake effect snow can fall in narrow, intense bands, quickly reducing visibility and creating slick road conditions. As a result, Friday morning and evening commutes could be impacted, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads.

This system is especially relevant for commuters, delivery drivers, and students traveling along Milwaukee’s lakefront corridors.

Drivers are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions near the lake as snow bands develop and shift.

If you feel like it's snowing more this winter than the past few years, you're not wrong.

So far this winter, Milwaukee has already logged more snowfall than it did in all of the 2024-25 season, according to data from the Wisconsin State Climatology Office.

The city got a couple more inches this week amid an extreme cold snap, on top of a snowy December and a Thanksgiving weekend storm that kicked off the winter.

How much has it snowed in Milwaukee this winter?

As of Jan. 27, Milwaukee has gotten 30.6 inches of snow so far this winter, per the Wisconsin State Climatology Office.

According to climate data between 1991-2020, Milwaukee typically logs 25.8 inches by this point in the season – meaning it's already snowed more this year than it usually does by late January.

In general, Milwaukee averages 48.7 inches of snow per season, per the Climatology Office. The 2024-25 season was significantly less snowy, with 30.3 inches recorded for the winter as of May 2025. The season prior to that Milwaukee saw 32.6 inches of snow.

How much has it snowed in other Wisconsin cities this winter?

Like Milwaukee, most southern Wisconsin cities have already surpassed 30 inches of snow this season, according to USA TODAY's snowfall tracker, which is based on data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Some parts of far northwest Wisconsin – like the city of Hurley, which is one of the snowiest cities in the country – have seen upward of eight feet of snow this winter.

MILWAUKEE — Currently, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is working out of a space on the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s campus.

What You Need To Know

While there is no timeline for when ICE will move into a facility at 11925 West Lake Park Drive, there are signs on that building that say, “future home of the Vet Center.”

Spectrum News 1 has confirmed through public records that the Veterans Administration has also secured permits for that building.

We have also confirmed that on Nov. 3, 2025, ICE obtained a certificate of occupancy for the building.

According to the occupancy application, ICE wants to occupy Suite 100 on the property’s south side as a public safety facility.

The application stated the hours of operation would be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The space would be more than 10,000 square feet.

Milwaukee’s Department of Neighborhood Services confirmed it’s done multiple inspections there for various permits for ICE. Those include electrical, plumbing and fire protection inspections.

ICE also submitted remodeling permits for interior office space and for the parking lot with 49 spaces.

Another permit Spectrum News 1 uncovered was for a chain-link, mesh, anti-climb fence that would span the perimeter of the property.

A plumbing permit Spectrum News 1 obtained detailed that the space will have 22 bathrooms and an eye-washing station.

ICE did not legally have to apply for a permit to occupy this building.

A spokesperson for DNS said from a building code standpoint, the federal government can occupy any building, and the city can’t prevent that occupancy.

MSOE told Spectrum News 1 that once ICE moves off its campus, the goal is to repurpose that space for academic use.

A spokesperson for the college said details about the planned move have not been provided to them.

MSOE acquired that lease to the federal government on March 1, 2023. In a statement, MSOE said, in-part:

“Prior to the acquisition, discussions with the GSA indicated that the agency intended to vacate the space within several months.

“However, after the acquisition, the GSA elected to continue its occupancy beyond the original lease term while federal agencies determine their next steps.”

We reached out to the General Services Administration to get more information about the new facility. The GSA manages federal buildings.

We were sent the following statement by Marianne Copenhaver, GSA associate administrator for communications:

“GSA is proud to support all of our patriotic federal law enforcement partners and help them meet their workspace requirements.”

We reached out to ICE public affairs several days ago with multiple questions. Spectrum News 1 asked when it plans to open the new facility and what kind of facility it plans to operate. We have not yet heard back.

Alderwoman Laressa Taylor, who represents District 9 where the building is, said she has inquired about an open date and has not received an answer. She also said the federal government would like for the new facility to be called a processing facility.

A growing number of Wisconsin high school students are taking part in dual enrollment classes to earn college credit, a trend that’s helping boost student numbers at the state’s technical colleges.

Enrollment in the Wisconsin Technical College System has risen by 18 percent since 2020. Meanwhile, enrollment at the Universities of Wisconsin stayed largely stable, dropping by half a percentage point since 2020.

A 2025 report by the Wisconsin Policy Forum found 78,703 high school students entered dual enrollment programs in the 2023-24 school year, and the vast majority earned their credits through tech colleges.

directs High School Partnerships for Gateway Technical College in southeastern Wisconsin, which boasts the most dual enrollment students in the state.

“(Dual enrollment) basically means that high school students have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit at the same time,” she said. “And many of the times, those dual credit programs are free, totally free, for students and their families, which is a good thing.”

On “Wisconsin Today,” Graf discussed the rise in dual enrollment for high school students and what career fields are attracting interest.

The following interview was edited for brevity and clarity.

Rob Ferrett: What is Gateway doing that’s generating success at dual enrollment?

Katie Graf: We have seen a tremendous amount of growth over the last 10 years — about an 150 percent increase — and it just really all starts with our partnerships. We can’t do dual credit without our partners at our local high schools.

In southeastern Wisconsin, we have 55 different high schools that we are partnering with to offer all of those eight different programs. And it’s just been a lot of intentionality, getting to know our high schools, getting to know our communities, and just finding their needs and helping, kind of making different programs available for students.

RF: I’m interested in getting a sense of the students who are participating in this. Do you have a sense of the breakdown of who’s going there for what reason?

KG: We have the majority of our dual credit programs and classes in career and technical education. Our most popular classes are in business, marketing, nursing assistant, welding, to name a few. In some cases, I think students are doing a little bit of exploration. But in others, I think students are coming in knowing that they want to get into a very specific career field. And I think that’s been a change I’ve definitely seen over the last 5-10 years, that intentionality.

When I started doing this work, back in 2017, we saw a lot of students just taking random courses, and they were excited. They’re like, “I have 30 college credits!” And then you pull up their transcript, and you’re like, “But what are you studying?” And sometimes, that’s a good thing, right? Students are taking classes and finding what they’re interested in. But we’ve had this shift over the last few years where students are being really intentional.

RF: Is there something you see as a hot emerging field of study that a lot of students are chasing right now?

KG: Right now, it’s a lot of welding, but also a lot in the health care field. We have about 400 students earning their technical diploma in nursing assistant through dual credit programs. These students are then able to get that CNA license, in which they’re even able to apply what they’re learning in the classroom through a youth apprenticeship program, which is another dual credit program.

That’s been a very exploding area for us, nursing assistants, students really wanting to get into the health care field, which is great because we’re also hearing it from our local employers. They need more CNAs, and it’s just great to see students in high school interested in getting into that field. And you know, maybe students are going to be a CNA for the rest of their life, or maybe students are using it as that stepping stone, building different career pathways and earning more credentials after they’ve graduated from high school, which is awesome.
