She’s won multiple Olympic gold medals, WNBA titles and MVP awards, netted her own Nike signature shoe and landed on the front cover of a video game. But Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson said her biggest accomplishments are off the court.
That was evident Friday afternoon at the Boys &Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada’s James Clubhouse in North Las Vegas where the A’ja Wilson Foundation, with video game franchise 2K and the 2K Foundations, unveiled a new indoor basketball court for the youth to work on the game that has given Wilson so much.
“I feel like that’s the biggest accolade of them all, being a tangible role model for them and having them understand that they can do the same thing that I’m doing, in their own way,” Wilson told the Review-Journal on Friday. “I love giving back to the next generation. I love giving them something to aspire to be.”
Growing up, Wilson also had those role models who helped her reach the milestones of her basketball journey. To pay it back is a full circle moment for Wilson, she said.
“To now become one (a role model), it’s kind of a pinch me moment,” she said. “So, I’m happy to be able to do that.”
Before the refresh, the basketball court was in bad shape, after a water leak a few years back that all but destroyed the wood, leading to an artificial surface being placed over the court, according to the Andy Bischel, president and CEO of Boys &Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada.
“When we had the opportunity to put a real basketball floor back in, this was the ideal place for it,” Bischel said. “This is the very first club in Southern Nevada, actually in the entire state. It was built in 1959 originally, so this is awesome to have someone like A’ja to care about us and add this new floor.”

The new court features the A’ja Wilson Foundation logo, Wilson’s Nike logo and the 2K Foundations’ logos on different portions of the hardwood. A new scoreboard was also added to the court as part of the upgrade.
“That is the foundation that you need in order to make it to the pros, in order make it to college and have fun in that sense,” Wilson said. “Anytime we can do that and give them a space to make them feel comfortable and have a safe space to play the game that we all love, I’m so happy that I get to partner with 2K to do this.”
With the 2K franchise becoming a huge hit within the culture of basketball, their charitable arm the 2K Foundations has been providing new courts to youths all over the world. Teaming up with Wilson in North Las Vegas during International Women’s Month made all the sense in the world to Ronnie Singh, known to his millions of social media followers as Ronnie 2K, the face of the video game franchise.
“Years of playing video games, it wasn’t supposed to be a platform to grow youth sports, but the 2K Foundations has really become proud to build basketball and give back to the community,” Singh said Friday. “Respective NBA players, respective WNBA players, it’s big for us to show up and support. I was once one of these kids, so it’s always great for us to do these events.”
Singh is the digital marketing director for 2K Games and is known for his in-game ratings of NBA and WNBA players featured in the popular NBA2K video games.
Wilson featured on video game cover
Wilson, who was one of the athletes featured on one of the covers of this year’s NBA2K video game, took to the court herself, carrying out a skills challenge and then cheering on the children in attendance as they took part in basketball contests themselves. Winners of the games took home a WNBA ball autographed by Wilson, and the memory of taking to the court with one of the league’s best players.
“Just giving them an opportunity to dream, let this be a vehicle to their dreams or their goals,” Wilson said. “If a kid leaves here and is like, ‘I just want to play basketball again another day,’ or if someone felt like they weren’t good enough and they leave here saying, ‘I can be my true self and be good,’ I am so happy with that, whether I touch one heart or 200.”

LAS VEGAS — Findlay Machine & Tool, LLC dba Kreate plans to open its first west coast facility in North Las Vegas after being approved for state tax incentives during the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) Board of Directors meeting today.
The vertically integrated design and engineering firm specializes in plastic injection molded products and produces a variety of products for the retail marketing, including storage totes, shelving, work supports, utility products, and drainage systems.
“North Las Vegas was a natural choice for Kreate due to logistical advantages, and local government incentives, paired with a strong local workforce, which makes it the perfect location for this expansion,” said Nickolas Reinhart, Founder and CEO of Kreate. “This investment reflects our commitment to our clients, ensuring we can meet their needs with unmatched speed, quality, and efficiency.”
Kreate’s 235,000 square foot facility is expected to be in full production by June 2025, and the company plans to make a capital investment of $11.5 million over the next two years. The facility will bring advanced manufacturing jobs to the region, including process engineers, plant managers, and tooling engineers.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kreate to North Las Vegas. Their investment in our city represents the type of high-quality manufacturing we aim to attract here,” said Jared Luke, Senior Director of Government Affairs and Economic Development for North Las Vegas. “Our strategic location, business-friendly environment, and talented workforce continue to attract innovative industry leaders, like Kreate, who are looking to expand their operations in the western United States.”
The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) assisted the City of North Las Vegas with guiding Kreate through the process of applying for state tax abatements, which was a key factor in the company’s decision to move to Southern Nevada.
“Kreate’s new manufacturing facility in North Las Vegas is a great example of the type of forward-thinking, high-tech growth that aligns with Southern Nevada’s economic vision,” said Betsy Fretwell, LVGEA interim CEO.“LVGEA is honored to work with the City of North Las Vegas to bring this application forward. By choosing our region for this expansion, Kreate is not only creating jobs and strengthening our local economy but also helping to position Southern Nevada as a leader in innovative and sustainable manufacturing.”
During its quarterly meeting today, the GOED board approved tax incentives for a total of three companies considering relocation or expansion throughout the state, including Kreate. These three companies will make capital investments of $71.7 million and generate $18 million in new state tax revenues over the next 10-year abatement period.
“Nevada continues to position itself as a leader in attracting businesses that drive economic growth,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “By supporting companies that bring high-quality jobs and significant capital investment, we are strengthening our economy and creating new job opportunities for Nevadans. LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Home to nearly 300,000 residents, North Las Vegas is gearing up to build Hylo Park, a mixed development. Shovels in dirt marked the start of construction Tuesday morning.
For two years, the lot where Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho on Lake Mead and Rancho stood empty, but not for long.
North Las Vegas mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown said this part of the city has been lacking in residential and commerical services and wants to bring the community to life.
“We built a partnership with Agora Realty and Management, they just get what we want. It’s so great when you have a shared vision,” Mayor Goynes-Brown explained. “It makes the process that much easier and it flows and so talking with them, sharing what we wanted, what our residents wanted and able to ask for and they were able to deliver that and we are so proud of them and the progress that’s going to happen over here.”
Spanning 73 acres, it will be a mixed-use space. There will be an 11-acre shopping center which includes a grocery store, a medical center, restaurants like In-N-Out and a financial institution.
For now, 36 acres of homes will be built by another residential housing developer. It will feature 393 new single and detached homes like single-family and townhomes.
Aaron Lefton, Agora Realty president of acquisition and leasing, said easy access and walkability was a top priority for economic development.
“We made it a purpose to make sure the community with the residential would be walkable, safe and you’d be able to get to the community shopping center and then eventually be able to get across the street to the additional 25 acres to the north,” remarked Lefton.
Hylo Park will also include an ice rink and other sports facilities to meet the city’s growing demand.
Agora Realty confirms there will be some businesses open in late 2025. Hylo Park should be fully open in 2027.
Right now, Agora Realty estimates costs at $600 million dollars for the Hylo Park project, but they are still crunching the numbers.
