OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — Oklahoma’s Attorney General has filed a lawsuit accusing OK Crisis Nursery Foundation (also known as OKCity Crisis Nursery) of misusing charitable donations meant to help vulnerable children.

The petition alleges the nonprofit’s founder, Jennifer Roberts, diverted funds for personal expenses while failing to comply with state laws and oversight requirements.

Donors were told funds would support children and families.

The Attorney General alleges donor money was diverted to personal rather than charitable purposes.

The lawsuit alleges Roberts also spent charitable funds on travel, sporting goods, car repairs, and restaurants, including steak and sushi.

According to the lawsuit, the fund diversion happened over three years between 2022 and 2025.

The AG alleges expenditures from the non-profit bank account exceeded deposits, fully draining the assets nearly every month.

The Attorney General also said that only one person controlled the entire organization, despite claims that a board of directors existed.

OK Crisis Nursery was founded as an Oklahoma City-based nonprofit to provide short-term emergency care and support for children and families in crisis.

According to the lawsuit, the non-profit lost its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in 2024 because it failed to file its required annual tax information returns for three consecutive years.

FOX 25 interviewed Roberts in January 2025, when she told us her non-profit needed newborn car seat donations.

OK Crisis Nursery Foundation lost its childcare license on December 31, 2025.

The Attorney General is asking the court to dissolve the OK Crisis Nursery Foundation and distribute its remaining assets to a similar charity.

He wants the court to appoint a receiver to preserve the remaining charitable assets, take control of the finances and pay any remaining debts.

He is also asking for an injunction against Roberts, prohibiting her from holding any office or having any role in a charitable non-profit in Oklahoma.

But dig one layer deeper and the pressure shows. 20.9% of listings carried a price reduction — roughly one in five homes — compared to just 15.5% nationally. Sellers who started too high were being forced to adjust. For buyers, that's a negotiating signal. For sellers, it's a warning: overpriced listings sat, then got cut.

The median Oklahoma City home spent 59 days on the market in February — a 17.6% jump from the same time last year, and one of the steepest slowdowns in the country. Oklahoma City's February data told one clear story: buyers gained ground, and sellers had to earn their deals.
