When it comes to buying purebred puppies, there are a lot of breeds and questions to consider. Do you want an outdoor pup or one that spends its time indoors? Are you looking for a tiny dog you can take with you everywhere or a larger breed you can lay with on the couch? Of all the purebred puppies to choose from, none are quite like the English bulldog. Their sourmug face might not be for everyone, but if your ideal version of man's best friend is a snorty, stocky ball of wrinkles that loves to lounge, a bulldog could be perfect for you.
Bulldogs are beloved for their unique looks and charming personalities. They have strong reputations for being loyal companions, making them incredibly popular for families and individuals alike. There's just something about their squishy face and bowling ball body that makes you want to love and cuddle them forever. Unfortunately, finding a purebred English bulldog from your local shelter is like searching for a needle in a haystack. When you factor in the fact that many English bulldog breeders are less-than-reputable, finding the right bulldog puppies for adoption in Orlando, FL can be challenging.
If you've been searching high and low for purebred English bulldog puppies from a responsible breeder, don't give up hope. Your search may be coming to an end sooner than you think with the help of IrresistiBulls.
IrresistiBulls was born out of love for the English bulldog who first graced our world, Bruiser. It became our mission to spread the joy he afforded us to families around the nation. We pride ourselves on being more than just breeders; we're a lifelong support system for our families. Unlike many competitors, we stay in touch with each family that purchases from us. We make it a point to offer expert tips and tricks for any challenges that may arise, which can help save you time, money, and a trip to the vet.
At IrresistiBulls, breeding English bulldogs isn't just a career choice. It's a passion. When you welcome a bulldog pup from our program into your home, you're not just getting any dog - you're gaining a remarkable English bulldog with a documented lineage of health, intelligence, and obedience - as well as all the hallmark traits that make English bulldogs beloved. While our dogs come from champion lines, they're perfect for families, provide unconditional love, and will probably be your new dinner bell, too.
Our cherished bulldog, Bruiser, was a unique boy. He stood out from other dogs. Like Bruiser, IrresistiBulls stands out from other breeders because we base our breeding practices on science and careful consideration.
Our goal isn't just about selling English bulldog puppies. It's to ensure that every puppy we breed excels in health, temperament, intelligence, and obedience. We don't rely on trial and error, which often yields more errors than successes. Extensive research underpins our methods to guarantee the best possible outcomes. Our dedication extends not only to the families welcoming our puppies into their homes but also to the well-being and quality of life of the puppies themselves. That's the IrresistiBulls difference.
When it comes to longevity, health, temperament, and intelligence, it all starts with the dam and sire. That's why our English bulldog sires and dams are carefully selected for their excellence, champion bloodlines, and genetic traits. We're not your run-of-the-mill English bulldog breeders in South Carolina; we've perfected our method. We genuinely care and view every puppy we bring into the world as a part of our extended family. Each one of our dogs is truly the "cream of the crop," guaranteed to pass on greatness to their offspring.
Simply put, we truly care about our bulldogs and the families that build cherished memories with them. We're incredibly thankful to have worked with so many amazing clients who trust our process and value our commitment to the health and wellness of our bulldog pups. Our wonderful clients recommend their friends and family members to IrresistiBulls because we prioritize:
When you buy from IrresistiBulls, you can rest easy knowing you're getting the best of the best. We take pride in ethically breeding our puppies by using champion bloodlines from different parts of the world. By doing this, we reduce the chances of our puppies inheriting common health issues that can affect English bulldogs. Our puppies come from well-regarded show dog ancestry from countries like Ukraine, Spain, and Russia, to name a few.
We meticulously breed for highly coveted traits and take proactive measures to limit traits that can lead to health conditions in your puppy. Our efforts have successfully eliminated issues such as corkscrew tails and narrow nares, ensuring a worry-free experience for our puppies and their new families.
Breeding any dog, especially English bulldogs, poses health concerns. We make every effort to breed English bulldogs with the desirable genetic traits while working to eliminate those that could result in health problems. The key is to avoid breeding puppies that are closely related and could potentially have genetic abnormalities.
Unfortunately, some breeders are either irresponsible or lack an understanding of the complexities involved in producing healthy English bulldog lines. We only breed dogs with the best-quality lineages and never take unnecessary risks by breeding dogs with overly similar ancestry. This approach safeguards not only our business but also the well-being of the puppies and the families who welcome them into their homes.
When you bring one of our puppies for sale into your home, you become a permanent part of our extended family.
Our IrresistiBulls are usually reserved before the litter is even born. Securing a spot on our reservation list is essential once we confirm a pregnancy. While we strive to honor all reservations, sometimes we have to leave it to nature, so there are no guarantees regarding litter arrivals and viability. However, once you've reserved your new English bulldog puppy, we'll keep you informed every step of the way. As English bulldog lovers, we understand your excitement about welcoming a new addition to your family. That's why we do our best to minimize the uncertainties and challenges that can arise during the breeding process.

Buying English bulldog puppies for sale in Orlando, FL is a joyful and exciting experience. Whether you're a single pup parent or have a family with children, you'll love your new bulldogs' affectionate, loyal nature and will laugh out loud at their quirky attitude. However, bringing a bulldog puppy home necessitates careful forethought and organization to guarantee a seamless adjustment for both you and your new furry pal. Keep these essential tips in mind when it's time to bring your bulldog puppy to your den.
Choose a cozy and secure spot in your home for your bulldog puppy to relax and feel at ease. You might want to opt for a crate or a puppy playpen to create a snug and den-like space for them.
Gather essential supplies such as water and food, nutritious and high-quality puppy food, a leash and a collar, bedding, chew toys, and grooming items. If you're worried about overdoing it, don't fret. It's better to be overprepared and have extra than to be underprepared and need more supplies.
It's important to get your home ready for your new bulldog puppies before they arrive. English bulldog pups are inquisitive by nature and love to play, so expect some high-energy bonding early on. Clear away any small objects that could be swallowed, hide electrical cords, and remove any toxic plants to keep them safe.
Bulldog puppies for adoption in Orlando, FL from IrresistiBulls arrive at your home having had all the proper shots and worming medicines required. However, you should already have a follow-up visit scheduled with your vet before your new family member arrives. Doing so will help you and your vet get on the same page regarding deworming, vaccinations, and preventative healthcare plans.
In the first few days, weeks, and sometimes months, it can be challenging to adjust to having a new puppy at home. Puppies are quite complex, and just like with any newborn, having reliable guidance and essential tools isn't just a luxury - it alleviates stress and makes the process of welcoming and training the puppy much smoother. At IrresistiBulls, we offer a puppy starter kit to provide you with the necessary information on puppy care, the resources you may require along the way, and, of course, an assortment of toys to enrich the bonding experience with your new furry friend.
During the initial days following the arrival of your bulldog puppy, it's essential to focus on establishing a nurturing environment and a consistent routine to build a strong bond. Here are some helpful tips to help your puppy settle in smoothly.
If there's one thing bulldogs thrive on (besides nutritious, yummy food), it's a routine. After you've been with your new bulldog puppy for a few days, try creating a schedule. Plan out time for eating, bathroom breaks, training, and playing. We should note that it's important to create a schedule that can be incorporated into your family's routine. You don't need to rearrange your life, but you will need to cater to your new doggo to an extent.
If you had to move to a new home when you were very young, you probably have an idea how a bulldog puppy would feel, too. It can be overwhelming - not just for your bulldog, but for you too. That's why you should try to be as patient and calm as possible while your new addition gets acclimated to their new surroundings.
Whether you're an experienced dog owner or a newcomer, bringing your puppy into their new home should be nothing but a joyful occasion. At IrresistiBulls, we're happy to help make sure you don't go home in a tizzy. That way, you can focus on spending time with your bulldog puppy and creating a loving home from day one.
Bulldogs are undeniably one of the most adored dog breeds in the world. Their wrinkled faces, stocky bods, and fun personalities have endeared them to dog lovers everywhere. Have you ever met an English bulldog owner who didn't love their pup? We haven't. If you're still on the fence about buying a bulldog puppy for you or your family, you may want to re-think that stance after reading these reasons.
Like, seriously adorable. The wrinkles. The jowls. The saggy eyes. Bulldogs epitomize "Aww, how cute!" especially when they're young. There's just something about grabbing a big wrinkly head and planting a huge kiss right in the middle.
Generally speaking, bulldogs are great pets for kids. That's because they're incredibly calm, fiercely devoted, and, well, lazy. A screaming, tugging child doesn't faze them. They'll even let little ones dress them in cowboy hats and tutus without batting an eye.
Owning a bulldog means there's rarely a dull moment in your home. Whether they're snoring so loud it puts your sleep apnea to shame or interrupting your thoughts with a little flatulence, English bulldogs will make you smile even if you're in a bad mood.
Make no mistake - bulldogs must get exercise to remain healthy. However, when given the choice, many bulldogs would rather curl up on the couch with you than go for a multi-mile run.
If you think breeds like border collies get all the credit for being smart, think again. Have you ever seen a border collie ride a skateboard or surf a wave? Probably not - but bulldogs are known for such feats. That's due in part to their low center of gravity, but it's mostly because bulldogs are so cool.
When you trust IrresistiBulls as your bulldog puppy breeder, we believe it's our privilege and duty to provide you with a healthy, happy dog. Every English bulldog we ship in the U.S. is both a part of our beloved Bruiser and also a new part of your family's heart. At the end of the day, our goal is for you to discover your new companion, family mascot, or hot mess without having to worry about shady practices or inconvenient logistics.
We know you'll fall in love as soon as you lay eyes on your new IrresistiBull, just like we did when Bruiser blessed our lives. Contact our office today to learn more about what separates us from other breeders and how we can make your English bulldog ownership dreams come true.

After more than four decades away, Jack in the Box has returned to Florida, just in time for the iconic chain's 75th anniversary.
The first new location of the 24-hour fast-food chain opened in Longwood in February, one of 10 stores planned for the Orlando area. One of five proposed Tallahassee locations is slated to open on March 9, and another Orlando location is scheduled to open in May, according to the Jack in the Box website.
First Jack in the Box in Tallahassee is slated for former Pizza Hut on Capital Circle NEThe popular restaurant chain poked its big, round, white head back into the Sunshine State last year with big plans. Currently, their franchisee page lists 11 Florida markets the company would like to move into, with another 18 cities in the Sunshine State listed as "future opportunities."
“Expanding into Florida, one of the nation's largest and fastest-growing states, aligns perfectly with our strategic plan for the Southeast,” Tim Linderman, chief development officer, said in a 2025 release. “We're thrilled to bring our iconic brand to Tallahassee, our next new market, and further develop our presence in Orlando.”
Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more! The chain, famous for its vast and ever-changing menu, controversial commercials, and ping-pong-ball-headed mascot, recently sold the Del Taco line it bought in 2022 and plans to close 150 to 200 Jack in the Box restaurants, mostly older franchised stores, in the next year or so.
There are currently about 2,100 Jack in the Box locations across 25 states, with more than 400 more locations planned for the next three years, the company said.
As of March 6, only one is open, in Longwood at 815 W State Road 434. The next ones to open will be in:
Here's what you need to know before you go.
Jack in the Box was a burger place (18 cents each in 1951!), but from the beginning, the best-selling item at the restaurant chain, based an hour away from Tijuana, was tacos. In 2017, the Wall Street Journal reported that Americans ate 554 million Jack in the Box tacos each year. The company even bought Del Taco in 2022, although it sold it again last year.
Over the years, Jack in the Box has offered several Americanized versions of foods from around the world, such as egg rolls, poppers, breakfast burritos, and Asian fried chicken.
The chain also frequently experiments with new menu items, such as Philly cheesesteaks, pitas, shrimp, gyros, pizza bites, breakfast bowls, the Cinnabon Iced Cinnacoffee, and a wide variety of milkshake flavors.
The Jack in the Box Wiki lists over 340 menu items the chain has offered at one time or another.
Currently, the lineup includes hamburgers and cheeseburgers, french fries (regular and curly), potato wedges (plain, loaded and "Hot Mess"), onion rings, stuffed jalapeños, all kinds of fried chicken (strips and poppers), egg rolls, hard-shell tacos, stuffed jalapenos, various salads, breakfast burritos, sausage croissants, milkshakes and mini churros. And more.
In honor of its 75th birthday, Jack in the Box brought back the Chicken Supreme Munchie Meal and the Hot Mess Burger. It also released Jibbi, a new backpack charm resembling the cult-favorite Labubu charms.
Breakfast is served all day, and at night, you can "Build Your Own Munchie" meal.
Major holidays get limited-time milkshakes such as the Basic Witch Shake, the Egg Nog Shake, and the Pumpkin Spice Shake. There are also Angry Monster Tacos, pumpkin croissant bites and other seasonal offerings.
If you've ever pulled through a drive-thru to grab a bite, you should thank Jack in the Box and its founder, Robert O. Peterson.
In the 1940s, Peterson owned two small chains of drive-in restaurants in San Diego, one called Topsy's and the other Oscar's. At that time, "drive-in" meant you parked and someone called a carhop would come to your car, take your order, and bring your food to you. But according to Mashed, in 1951, Peterson decided to try something new.
A few years before that, Petersen had seen an Alaskan restaurant called Chatterbox use a two-way intercom system to place orders. He bought the rights to use it and converted one of his Topsy's locations into a new place, Jack in the Box. It became the first fast-food restaurant to allow intercom orders straight to the kitchen, according to History.com, and he quickly converted all his other restaurants into Jack in the Box locations
In-N-Out and 6 food chains missing from Florida. What should head here next? There are several things you can get if you know what to order. According to cozymeal.com, Jack in the Box secret menu items currently include:
Note that items are subject to availability and may vary by location.
Is there a rule that fast food mascots should be playful and slightly unsettling?
The first Jack in the Box used a theme similar to the original Topsy's, which was circus-themed and featured a giant white clown head on the roof. When the new place opened, "Jack" became the face of it.
Jack was dropped from advertising in the 1980s when the franchise decided to go after the adult market with an upscale menu and a new name ("Monterey’s Jack"). The commercial featured employees blowing up the clown head.
But after the rebranding failed to take off — and the company was trying to recover from its part in an E. coli outbreak, see below — Jack returned in another explosive commercial, this time as a white clown head atop a business suit blowing up the company boardroom. Since the highly successful reboot, he has been the focus of the company's edgy, slightly sinister, award-winning advertising campaigns.
Jack in the Box commercials have mocked other fast food chains, promoted fake bands such as the Spicy Crispy Girls and the Meaty Cheesy Boys, presented highlights from a fake football team called the Carnivores which defeated opposing teams such as the Vegans, launched a presidential campaign, and even partnered with Ryan Reynolds in 2023 to promote his company Mint Mobile and their new mint milkshake. In a 2009 Super Bowl ad, Jack was hit by a bus, and the company launched a successful campaign for hangintherejack.com, where people could download coupons to "show your support for Jack."
But the company has been criticized for its anti-vegan commercials, ads with not-so-hidden adult undertones, including an innuendo-filled commercial promoting their new bowls that came out during the "Me Too" movement, and a 1997 ad where Jack violently assaults someone who has insulted the franchise's food.
In 1993, 73 different Jack in the Box locations were linked to an E. coli outbreak that sickened over 700 people in four states, leading to 171 hospitalizations and the deaths of four children.
"Further investigation revealed that Foodmaker, Inc., parent company of Jack in the Box, had been warned by local health departments and its own employees that its hamburgers were being undercooked, but had decided that cooking them to the required 155 degrees made them too tough," said food safety expert Bill Marler, who represented many of the people affected. Settlements reached over $50 million, "the largest payment related to foodborne illness at the time," Marler said, and ultimately the company lost approximately $160 million both in court and from lost sales.
A documentary on the outbreak, "Poisoned: The Dirty Truth About Your Food," was released on Netflix.
At one point in the late 1970s, Jack in the Box had more than 1,000 restaurants all over the country.
But Burgerbeast.com reports that in 1979, Jack in the Box's then-parent company, Ralston-Purina, closed or sold all of their restaurants in the Southeast to focus on the West and Southwest. All the Florida locations — Tallahassee, Sanford, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Bradenton and Orlando — were shut down by 1980.

Theme parks, sports, and shopping malls are three ingredients most people think to include when planning an Orlando vacation. It's true, you could easily visit the city and spend your time waiting in line for Stardust Racers Epic Universe or The Incredible Hulk Coaster, two of the 10 rides in Orlando actually worth waiting for. Or you could devote this time to shopping in one of the world's most underrated retail destinations.
That doesn't mean following the tourist crowds to The Mall at Millenia, Old Town Entertainment District, or one of the city's congested outlet malls. While these places provide all the usual designer brands and run-of-the-mill retailers, you'll rarely find any unique items or cool boutiques. Shopping locally in Orlando often means looking beyond the giant malls and focusing your attention on the city's various neighborhoods where small, independent stores wait for intrepid shoppers. Areas like the Milk District, for instance, offer a kaleidoscope of subcultures with great food and shopping. But it's certainly not the only one. Trendy boutiques can be found scattered all around the city. You just need to know where to look.
When it comes to finding Orlando's coolest boutiques, the best guides are the ones who live and breathe this city: locals. We've tapped into this knowledge by combing through local blogs and guides and cross-referencing their recommendations with unique store listings on Yelp and locals' suggestions on the r/Orlando subreddit. We've also made sure these shops are rated highly on Google and have reviews specifically mentioning their quality products. Here are Florida's five coolest places to shop in Orlando for your next visit, according to locals.
The House on Lang is a boutique inside a little bungalow that sells a range of clothing for men, women, and little ones. LemonHearted, a blogger based in Orlando, recommends The House on Lang for its trendy clothing and gift selection. The bungalow has different themed rooms, including two rooms for male and female clothes, one for vintage goods, another for homewares and decorations, and another area for kids' clothing. Run by co-owners Julie and Christie, this family-owned business epitomizes local shopping with its welcoming atmosphere and regular events, including art classes, live music, and stand-up comedy.
Shopping here is all about finding one-off fashion pieces, whether that be flowing dresses and leather cowgirl boots, floral button-downs and pastel-colored khakis, or kids' vests and onesies with cute phrases. The Vintage Room is particularly great if you're hunting for unique clothes. They often stock pre-loved jackets, dresses, shirts, and items collected while traveling abroad. When it comes to home decor, you can often find locally made goods and art on the shelves. This includes mugs, framed prints, bowls, candles, throws, and pillows.
The store has a distinct bohemian style when it comes to its new fashion and homewares curation, with a lot of earthy tones across the racks. With a near-perfect 4.9-star rating from over 100 reviews on Google, reviewers appreciate the boutique's wide selection of curated items. People also often comment on the vending machine selling small art prints. "Such a lovely boutique! ... The whole atmosphere felt so warm and welcoming," one shopper wrote on Google.
Recommended by multiple locals on the r/Orlando subreddit, Freehand Goods is a boutique selling a range of handmade artisanal goods and apparel. It's part of the East End Market, a neighborhood shopping and dining hub with over a dozen independent restaurants, cafes, and retailers. Located on the corner of East End Avenue and Corrine Drive, the market is about 15 minutes' drive from Downtown Orlando and is one of the many incredible things to do in and around Orlando, other than visiting Disney World.
Freehand Goods holds its own among these local merchants, stocking a wide selection of clothing, leather goods, accessories, homewares, and grooming products. This is not your typical gift shop. Many of the products, such as the leather wallets and belts, colognes and soaps, and soy candles, are made in-house. The other goods are made by local artisans and artists, including the Florida-inspired printed t-shirts and original art prints.
You can often take advantage of deals and specials here, including art and gift bundles with a 15% discount. You may also see items on the shelves that have been designed in collaboration with the Florida State Parks Foundation. Money from these purchases is donated to the foundation to help it protect and preserve Florida's state parks. "As a native Floridian, this store makes me so happy ... I always stop by to see what new things they have," one person wrote on Google, where the boutique has 4.9 stars.
Etoile Boutique is located in Orlando's trendy Milk District on East Robinson Street. Locals on r/Orlando cite its excellent vintage collection, and it's one of the top-rated unique stores on Yelp, with a 4.3-star rating from over 50 reviews. "Cute vintage shop in the Milk District. ... I like that they have a selection of items from different countries and different time periods," one person wrote on Yelp. Quality vintage is right, as owner Falon Quillen handpicks these one-of-a-kind threads from iconic fashion decades spanning the 1950s all the way to the 1990s.
Shoppers can find eye-catching vintage pieces, including vibrant halter tops, '80s muscle shirts, varsity bomber jackets, loop collar button-downs, '70s mini dresses, and flare pants. New clothing gets racked every week as well, so it's a store locals find themselves coming back to regularly. "A must do every time we're in town! The best vintage store in Florida," one repeat customer wrote on Google.
While vintage threads are Etoile Boutique's specialty, the store also sells handmade body products from local makers, such as Bet's Bars. While the selection is small, you can find quality candles, soaps, and body butter. They also stock a range of antique and vintage furniture, including side tables, bureaus, framed prints, and other decor. Visit on Thursdays for 15% discounts on furniture and art, or on Fridays to browse clothing for only $5.
Atomic Horror is another one with multiple mentions by locals on the r/Orlando subreddit. This is not your typical boutique, appealing to lovers of all things horror with its selection of merchandise and memorabilia from cult and mainstream horror movies and TV shows. The store, which has a 4.8-star rating from over 220 Google reviews, has a variety of items, from scary graphic novels and themed tiki mugs to collectible figurines of iconic horror movie characters.
You can also purchase print shirts, socks, and hats, games based on your favorite horror movies, and recreated props from movies like "Gremlins" and "Evil Dead". If you want to decorate your home for Halloween, check out their horror-themed decor, including light-up masks, throw blankets, and signs. "It's such a cool place for a fan of anything horror. It's not a huge store, but it is packed with an incredible amount of memorabilia and merchandise at really good prices," one person wrote on Google.
Atomic Horror is located on East Colonial Drive, about 15 minutes' drive from Orlando's CBD. You can also catch bus number 28 or 29 from the city center in around 30 minutes. Everyone who works there is also a fan of horror films and shows, creating a community of like-minded folks. This shared passion might be one reason why frequent shoppers can eventually get 20% off with enough Frequent Monster Club stamps.
As the name suggests, this little boutique offers a small but high-quality selection of handmade gifts. YAY! Tiny Shop is located on North Orange Avenue, only 2.5 miles north of Orlando's city center. It's actually the start of a charming row of boutiques, wine shops, and restaurants along Orange Avenue that overlook Lake Ivanhoe, known as Ivanhoe Village.
Most of the products sold here have been created by local artists. This includes home decor and cookbooks, beautifully painted prints in quality frames, scented candles, handbags, and jewelry. It's a great place to go if you're looking for personal and unique gifts but have no idea what to buy, because the shelves are stacked with so many different products.
Local blogger, LemonHearted, recommends YAY! Tiny Shop to anyone who favors small local businesses over big chains. The cute facade sets the scene well with its white brick walls, vintage green awnings, bay window, and timber door. But visitors tend to linger inside as they explore the store's variety of items. "I love going here for gifts, then end up leaving with a few treats for myself ... They've curated a variety [of] unique and beautiful items, not seen at many other gift shops," one person wrote on Google, where the boutique has a perfect 5-star rating.
To compile this list, we searched for the most unique and popular boutiques in Orlando listed by local bloggers and review sites, including LemonHearted and Yelp. We also looked at local recommendations on the r/Orlando subreddit. We avoided the more mainstream boutiques and instead focused on places that were trendy local spots rather than well-known shopping hubs. We checked all these businesses on Google and made sure we only chose the boutiques with a 4-star rating or higher from at least 30 reviews. TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet on Tuesday may pony up for a new Tampa Bay Rays stadium, considering a proposal to convey 22 acres to Hillsborough College that could be used as part of a stadium location for the baseball team.
Hillsborough College is working with the Rays ownership over the use of about 113 acres of the Dale Mabry Campus for a proposed stadium and accompanying mixed-use development.
The proposal before the cabinet includes the use of 22 acres of non-conservation land as part of the proposed deal, which could “provide a greater benefit to the public than its retention in state ownership.”
“Today, while a portion of the property is utilized for college purposes, a significant portion of land is solely used for parking (single level surface) purposes, which provides an opportunity to reconfigure the campus through real estate optimization,” the proposal states. “Previously, portions of the adjacent property were conveyed by the Board of Trustees for sports and entertainment uses, including the current home to George M. Steinbrenner Field, the Spring Training Home to the New York Yankees and Tampa Tarpons.”
DeSantis and the Cabinet — Attorney General James Uthmeier, Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson — will be sitting as the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, which oversees management of most state lands.
The proposal includes a requirement that within one year the college update its campus master plan to integrate the dual missions of school and the Major League Baseball franchise and to maintain existing government leases until they are modified by the Rays.
Also, the recommendation calls for the college to work with the Rays on applications and permits, and that state permitting agencies “expeditiously review all state and local applications, permits, or zoning requirement, or additional submissions in support of the project.”
Florida has owned the land since it was acquired from the U.S. government as part of a 155 acre acquisition by the State Tuberculosis Board of Florida on January 29, 1947. Since 1968, the land has been held or leased to the college and other state agencies, according to Cabinet records.
The Rays ownership group, which bought the team last year, is looking for a public-private partnership, and any deal would have to include support from the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County.
Under previous owners, the Rays have been attempting to get a new stadium for more than a decade. The Rays currently play at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, although the domed stadium was slammed by a hurricane in 2024 and the team had to play at Steinbrenner Field last year.
The proposed development, which would include educational buildings, is portrayed as emulating The Battery Atlanta, a 10-acre mixed-use project that the Atlanta Braves developed next to the taxpayer-funded Truist Park northwest of Atlanta.
DeSantis has suggested Hillsborough College could shift money from deferred maintenance projects to assist the deal.
“I’d rather put that money to the reimagined campus than trying to rehab some of the old buildings,” DeSantis said during a Feb 3 press conference with MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred at Hillsborough College.
DeSantis also suggested the Department of Transportation could help with access to the revitalized property.
The proposed budget out of the Florida Senate offers $50 million to help the college relocate facilities for the stadium, something that is not included in the House spending plan.
In 2022, DeSantis vetoed a $35 million earmark for a new spring-training facility for the Rays in Pasco County, explaining he opposed tax dollars going to professional sports stadiums.
“We were not in a situation where use of tax dollars for a professional stadium would have been a prudent use,” DeSantis said at the time.

Luke Combs and Opry Entertainment Group are expanding their Category 10 franchise, with Combs confirming today (Tuesday, February 17th 2026) that he'll be bringing his much-loved bar to a brand new location next year: Orlando, Florida.
The latest Category 10 location follows the flagship Nashville, Tennessee space - which opened its doors in early November 2024 - and the recently announced Las Vegas, Nevada site. The latter is due to start welcoming customers later in 2026.
In an official statement, the North Carolina native playfully name-checks his fan-favourite song, ‘1, 2 Many’, in underlining that he has big plans for his Category 10 dynasty.
The ‘Beautiful Crazy’ hitmaker muses, “I have a line in my song ‘1, 2 Many,’ ‘there’s no stopping me once I get goin’. Well, I guess you can say the same about Cat 10 now”.
Combs goes on to underline why this third location holds a special meaning for his family, “My wife is from Florida, so we’re both super excited about this. I am glad to be bringing our brand of first-class service and awesome tunes to the Sunshine State”.
This new Category 10 will be located in Orlando Universal’s CityWalk, and is set to be 33,000 square-foot and three-stories high. Building work is expected to start this summer.
Although it's only been open for just over a year, Nashville's Category 10 is already one of the most popular destinations on Broadway, with Combs’ star-power ensuring it has become a must-see location for country music fans and Music City tourists.
Adding to the buzz around Category 10 is the fact that Combs often makes surprise appearances at the bar. This past weekend, for instance, the country titan popped up for an impromptu set, a few days ahead of the exciting new Orlando unveiling.
