Pueblo, Colo. — Snow and powerful winds could create hazardous mountain travel conditions across parts of central Colorado beginning late Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday through 3 p.m. Sunday for the Eastern Sawatch Mountains above 11,000 feet and the Western Mosquito Range/East Lake County above 11,000 feet.
Forecasters say 2 to 5 inches of snow are expected, combined with wind gusts up to 75 mph, which could produce periods of blowing snow and sharply reduced visibility.
The most significant impacts are expected north of Cottonwood Pass, where strong winds may lift falling and existing snow across exposed ridges and high mountain routes.
The National Weather Service said travelers should prepare for hazardous conditions in snow and blowing snow, particularly at higher elevations where winds are strongest. Sudden visibility drops may occur in exposed areas.
Drivers traveling through Colorado’s high mountain corridors overnight and Sunday morning are advised to slow down and use caution, especially along mountain passes and ridgelines.
State officials recommend checking updated road conditions before traveling. Colorado road conditions can be obtained by calling 511 or through state transportation updates.
While snowfall totals are relatively light, the combination of strong winds and blowing snow could make travel difficult across alpine terrain.

A large grass fire that started in Morrill County has caused evacuations in Nebraska on Thursday. The fire has reportedly burned over 330,000 acres.

The 35,000-acre fire, named the Nenbf Road 203 Fire, started around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Crews are continuing to secure the fire perimeter to prevent it from spreading to the Middle Loup River and the nearby town of Dunning.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, Phoenix Monciviaz-Likes received the sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a child. Court records show the plea agreement also included a four-year sentence for attempted sexual assault on a child, which will run concurrently with the eight-year term.
Investigators say the case began after detectives with the sheriff’s office and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received a cyber tip linking alleged child sexual abuse material to Monciviaz-Likes.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives launched a year-long investigation and later executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home. Authorities said the search uncovered child sexual abuse material and online conversations allegedly connected to assaults involving minors.
Monciviaz-Likes was arrested in January 2025 on multiple charges, including three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, three counts of sexual assault on a child, and one count of animal cruelty.
