When they arrived, deputies reported seeing a moving blanket draped over a second-floor walkway railing outside a suite. After announcing their presence, a man—later identified as Sean M. Rugroden—emerged and followed their commands before being detained.

Deputies said the mailbox slot on the door where Rugroden was found had been removed, and the door appeared unsecured. They also observed foil, melted straws, lighters, and other drug-related items outside the suite.

During a weapons search, deputies allegedly located a pack of multi-colored straws in Rugroden’s pocket. Inside the office space, investigators reported finding a similar pile of straws about seven feet from the doorway, along with an open cookie package matching one found outside.

An employee of the business confirmed they wished to pursue charges. Deputies then advised Rugroden he was under arrest on suspicion of second-degree burglary.

A more detailed search allegedly uncovered burnt foil, melted straws, additional paraphernalia, and a small baggie containing a white crystalline substance. The substance later field-tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine, according to deputies.

Rugroden was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
