The Denver Broncos are looking to sweep the Las Vegas Raiders for the first time since 2014. Believe it or not, the Raiders own the AFC West series all-time with 72-54-2 standing over the Broncos.

To get even, the Broncos would need to sweep the Raiders for the next nine years, essentially. That starts with Denver getting its first-ever win at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, several Broncos are approaching records and individual milestones worth noting. Here's what to watch for in Broncos-Raiders.

Allen needs one sack to set a new career high in quarterback takedowns recorded in a season. He is listed as questionable, though, so let's hope he plays.

Nik Bonitto Chasing Double Digits

Bonitto needs one sack to become the first Bronco since 2018 to record double -digit quarterback takedowns in a season. The last Broncos to do it were Von Miller and Bradley Chubb in 2018.

Jonathon Cooper Making History

Cooper needs a half-sack to become the first seventh-round NFL draft pick since 2010 to reach 20 quarterback takedowns in his first four seasons. The Broncos rewarded him with a lucrative extension earlier this season.

Nix needs to record at least 200 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and no interceptions on Sunday to become the fifth rookie in NFL history to record five such games in a season. Courtland Sutton Aiming for Watson

Sutton needs six receptions to tie former Broncos wide receiver Steve Watson for the ninth-most catches in team history. Sutton was a 2018 second-round pick who's played every snap with the Broncos.

Sutton needs 94 more receiving yards to become the 11th Bronco all-time to reach the 5,000 receiving yards mark. I like his odds of getting there this week in Vegas, especially with how injured the Raiders' secondary is and how red-hot his quarterback is.

With flurries falling in parts of Baltimore and 2-5 inches of snow on the ground in Western Maryland, winter weather has arrived.

Snow is not expected to stick to the ground in or around Baltimore, said Cody Ledbetter, a meteorologist with the Baltimore/Washington office of the National Weather Service.

Ledbetter said there could be some trace accumulation, like on the grass, in Baltimore, but added that he “wouldn’t expect too much.”

Snow began accumulating Thursday afternoon in Garrett County, according to the National Weather Service.

Oakland, in the far western Maryland panhandle, could see up to a foot of snow between Friday and Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service. Closer to Baltimore, less than an inch of snow is expected.

Ledbetter said there have also been some reports of minimal snow accumulation in parts of Carroll County and western Frederick County, and some accumulation could be expected along Catoctin Mountain near Thurmont.

The Ravens training facility in Owings Mills appeared to see some snow sticking to the ground around 9:45 a.m., according to the team.

Wind gusts of around 25-35 mph are forecast for most of the state, with higher wind speeds possible along the mountain ridges in the west, according to the NWS. Baltimore County is also activating its freezing weather shelters for Friday night.

Earth is in a La Niña watch, according to the Climate Prediction Center. La Niña is a regular climate pattern that pushes the atmospheric jet stream north.

Maryland sits between the northern part of the country, which can expect wetter conditions that normal, and the southern, which can expect warmer conditions than normal, according to a map published by the National Ocean Service.

The state may see warmer conditions than normal regardless of whether La Niña emerges, according to a long-range forecast from the Climate Prediction Center.

After 20 days, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources lifted the statewide open air burn ban that was put in place to help prevent the spread of wildfires amid dry weather conditions.

The burn ban is no longer necessary after recent rainfall helped to mitigate fire danger, according to the DNR. The forecast is expected to return to typical weather patterns seen this time of the year, which will lower fire risk.

While the burn ban was in place, Maryland Forest Service firefighters and partner agencies responded to 33 fires that burned 48 acres, according to the DNR.

Chris Robertson, state fire supervisor with the Maryland Forest Service, said that because of how cooperative Marylanders were during the burn ban, the resulting outbreak of new wildfires dropped.

“The statewide burn ban has been a critical tool to minimize damage these last few weeks,” he said. “We appreciate their patience and are glad to be able to rescind this restriction safely.”

Following Wednesday night’s rain that aided in minimizing the fire danger, a cold front is approaching, which will bring more chances for rain, strong winds and snow, according to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington.

Thursday and Friday will see those powerful winds continue as well as a chance for snow at higher elevations. Garrett County is under a winter storm warning.

The mountain regions of Western Maryland, including Garrett County, are forecasted to receive 6 to 12 inches of snow starting Thursday afternoon and ending midday Saturday, according NWS. Western Allegany County is projected to receive 2 to 4 inches of snow through the end of the week.

Closer to Baltimore, there will be a chance for snow flurries Friday before 10 a.m., according to NWS. Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., rain and snow showers are forecasted, with just rain after 1 p.m. There is a possibility of snow accumulation of less than half of an inch.

Despite the recent precipitation, there are still drought conditions across the state and the DNR is urging landowners to refrain from outdoor burning, if possible, and be cautious when burning, according to the DNR press release.

There also might be local burn restrictions still in place in counties before the statewide burn ban was implemented, according to the DNR. Residents should check with their local authorities to find out if restrictions are still in effect.

PIGTOWN, Md. — Turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese, you name it, the Ravens have it, and they gave it all away Tuesday to hundreds of families in Pigtown.

Each year the Baltimore Ravens host several turkey giveaways, feeding hundreds of families in Baltimore.

Tuesday, it was George Washington Elementary School, and we caught up with Poe, the Ravens cheerleaders, and even some former players who were all helping to give away food.

"That's what it's all about: putting smiles on the families faces," says former Raven Terrence West.

Each family got one turkey and grocery bag with other food items.

Principal Tanisha Sheppard says the giveaway is important and another way the school can connect with its students and their families beyond the classroom.

"So even though we are not in their houses on Thanksgiving, they have like this memory like, Oh wow, we were able to support and be a part of this, and so it's great," says Principal Sheppard.

Lashawn Lane and her son came out to the giveaway, and she says anyone giving out free food during the holidays has a huge impact on the community.

She says she is happy the ravens make this a tradition.

"You never know it could be; you're just one paycheck away. So you don't know anybody's situation, so I think it's important. I'm happy they came and just take their time just to come and share the love with the kids; it's wonderful because they will never forget it," says Lane.

West is proof the students won't forget because he says he still remembers being one of the families getting a turkey before Thanksgiving.

He says it's why he still volunteers for Ravens turkey giveaways to this day.

"Like when I was coming up in elementary school, they had Ray Lewis come past and see I remember that day, so I know these types of events kids remember, so I'm glad to be a part of that," says Terrence West.

In the week leading up to Thanksgiving, the Baltimore Ravens plan to give out over 1,400 turkeys and bags of food to families throughout Baltimore City.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — If you’re planning to put up a live Christmas tree this year, it’s a good idea to scope out what will be available from Baltimore County tree growers.

There are more than 16,000 Christmas tree farms in the United States, stretching over 292,050 acres, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Larger tree farms control about 75 percent of the supply, but if you’re interested in supporting a local business this holiday season, there are plenty of places to chop or pick out a tree locally.

Recent data from the American Christmas Tree Association’s 2024 Consumer Report shows 99 percent of survey respondents intend to display at least one Christmas tree in their homes this year, and among them, 22 percent will opt for a live tree.

According to PickYourOwnChristmasTree, real trees will cost about $13 a foot, depending on the type of tree. At that cost, a typical 7-foot tree would cost about $90.

Years of extreme weather — drought conditions in some parts of the country and excess moisture in others — have affected Christmas tree farms.

This year, attention is focused on the Northeast, where tree farmers are struggling under severe drought conditions that are killing off young trees and could cause future shortages.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, about a fourth of the region was in severe to extreme drought, which hits young trees especially hard. It typically takes a tree seven or eight years to grow to the desirable height for decorating.

“Christmas tree farms in the Northeast have, unfortunately, been hit with drought conditions that will impact the crop for several years to come,” American Christmas Tree Association executive director Jami Warner told CNN.

“While consumers will be able to find their Christmas trees this season, some growers in the Northeast will not be able to harvest as many trees as they have in past non-drought years,” Warner said.
