Kyle and Travis York of York Real Estate invested more than $6 million in the project, which they hope will turn this once industrial space – the former Lew A. Cummings Building – into a modern gathering place.

“In the next five years, we envision a downtown that continues to thrive and expand,” says Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais. “With more housing units coming online, we expect to see even greater success for our bars, restaurants, theaters, SNHU Arena and Fisher Cats baseball stadium. Retail shops will be a key addition to the downtown mix, providing more options for residents and visitors alike.”

Ruais adds that Manchester expanded its downtown retail scene over the last year with additions like the Dew Collective, a flower shop offering handmade and custom designs, and Peridot Boutique, which sells clothing, accessories and beauty products. Plus, advancements continue to take place in the Historic Millyard, a former 19th century industrial mill complex.

“The historic Millyard District will continue to grow as a high-tech hub driven by the regenerative science industry led by the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute (ARMI),” Ruais says. “This economic initiative promises to bring new residents, jobs, businesses and visitors, which will make our downtown even more vibrant. The opportunities for growth, engagement and development are truly endless.”

Speaking of lively, Manchester has a surging housing market, which is fueled by new residential construction. Hundreds of new apartments are under development and even more projects are planned. One is the 250-unit complex rising between West Auburn and Depot streets, a key part of downtown’s ongoing transformation.

Nazaka says these developments are crucial in addressing the growing demand for housing and making Manchester even more attractive to young professionals, families and remote workers seeking affordability and a high quality of life. She says the city’s population growth will support job creation, enhance consumer spending and contribute to the city’s tax base, strengthening the city’s overall economic foundation.

“I anticipate the current and upcoming residential projects in Manchester will have a substantial and positive impact on our local economy and businesses,” Nazaka says. “With more housing options becoming available, we expect to see an influx of new residents, driving demand for local goods and services. This will benefit a wide range of businesses, including retail, dining, entertainment and health care, all of which will experience increased consumer activity.”

Manchester’s rapid housing growth hasn’t gone unnoticed on the national stage. In August 2024, the city earned the top spot on realtor.com’s list of hottest housing markets in the country, a reflection of the city’s desirability and increasing demand for urban housing options.

“Being named realtor.com’s hottest housing market is a significant milestone for Manchester’s growth and economic development,” Ruais says. “It reflects the city’s increasing desirability as a place to live, work and invest in driven by its diverse and dynamic labor market. We just love when the Sandman comes home to New Hampshire! For us it's more exciting than seeing the royals enter Buckingham Palace.

His mom Judy still calls Manchester home. I'll never forget when he brought his comedy tour to the SNHU arena in 2022, he had the entire crowd sing happy birthday to his mom who was in the audience. It was a pretty special moment.

His sister Elizabeth also lives in the area works as a dentist at Spindel General and Cosmetic Dentistry in Manchester. She, of course, also got a shoutout!

He also gave love to tons of local businesses. I loved learning about his favorite spots, many of which are still kicking.

Sandler said "no one had a problem with how I dress when I'd walk down Hampton Beach". It's true! His basketball shorts and high socks are perfectly acceptable around these parts.

We're not sure why the Sandman was in the Queen city this past weekend but he was and he made his presence known. We love that about him. On Saturday he enjoyed Brunch at Firefly Bistro. Firefly posted this photo as evidence on their Instagram and Facebook and the people went wild!

Most were sharing the same sentiment "I can't believe I missed him!" We can all only hope that one day we will have the good fortune of running into Adam Sandler in his hometown. And if you already have, you are one of the lucky ones !

Federal prosecutors said in a court filing Monday they believe the Manchester teacher charged with attempted sex trafficking of a minor Thursday was on school grounds while allegedly negotiating to pay for sex with a 12-year-old girl.

Stacey Ray Lancaster, a Manchester West High School teacher since spring, sent multiple messages during school hours to an undercover detective in response to an internet post selling sex with minors, the filing said. Prosecutors said video footage showed Lancaster on school grounds Thursday, when he allegedly sent the messages.

There were no actual children involved because the internet advertisement was fake and had been posted by federal law enforcement officers as part of their investigation. Four other men who responded to the advertisement have been arrested and charged.

Lancaster, 46, of Hudson, was released on bail Monday with several conditions over the objection of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Concord. He is confined to his mother’s house at an undisclosed location in New Hampshire; cannot be around minors; is prohibited from using the internet, and had to surrender his passport.

Lancaster has been on administrative leave from his position overseeing the school’s Naval Junior ROTC program at Manchester West since his arrest, according to a school spokesperson.

The status of Lancaster’s teaching credentials was uncertain Monday.

Lancaster does not appear on the state Department of Education’s list of credentialed teachers or its roster of educators who have had their credentials revoked. Neither the school nor the state would comment or say whether Lancaster held teaching credentials.

Lancaster was also the liaison between the school and the U.S. Navy. A commander with the ROTC program told NHPR Monday that Lancaster’s credentials had been “suspended.” He declined to elaborate or give his name and referred questions to the school district.

Sue Hannan, the president of the Manchester teachers’ union, said in an email Monday that Lancaster was not a member and declined to comment.

Lancaster’s court-appointed federal public defender, Jaye Rancourt, did not return a message Monday.

According to the arrest warrant, Lancaster exchanged nearly 20 messages with an undercover detective who said there were two girls, ages 12 and 14, available for sex at an unnamed Manchester hotel. Lancaster told the detective to pick between the two and agreed to pay $100 for sex with the younger girl, the affidavit said.

Lancaster left school grounds at about 2:50 p.m. on Thursday and went to the hotel, where he was arrested, according to the affidavit.

“...As set forth above, it is the government's reasonable assumption that based on the nature of the defendant’s employment and the timing of his chats, that he was negotiating to pay for sex with a minor while he physically at work where he is believed to be employed,” federal prosecutor Matthew Vicinanzo wrote in a filing Monday seeking that Lancaster be held without bail.

The school distinct issued a statement Monday afternoon saying the the “revelation adds another layer of grave concern to an already disturbing series of allegations against Mr. Lancaster.”

The school said it is cooperating with authorities and arranging support for students.

Vicinanzo argued that Lancaster is a flight risk due to the seriousness of the charge, which carries a minimum 15-year sentence, his family’s connections outside the country, extensive travel history, and “substantial means.”

Lancaster was stationed abroad with the Navy and has an ex-wife and two children living in Bahrain, according to Vicinanzo’s filing. Publicly available records show he has prior addresses in Nevada, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

Vicinanzo told the court Lancaster’s “six-figure” salary was another risk factor. The school district said Lancaster is paid $136,972 a year with $52,176 of that covered by the Navy.

Lancaster requested a court-appointed defense attorney, saying he could not afford to hire his own. The financial affidavit he submitted as part of that request is sealed.

“McIntyre and Pats Peak ski areas are two really great ski spots,” Ille says. “Night skiing is something that a lot of people do after work in the wintertime since it gets dark so early.”

Consider heading downtown after your outing to conclude the night with food and drinks at The Crown Tavern, a local hot spot with spacious outdoor seating.

“It’s one of my favorite places to go in downtown Manchester. It’s amazing. They have such a beautiful atmosphere and amazing food,” Ille says.

5. Savor Your Social Life

Need things to do in Manchester, NH, to boost your spirits after work? Get a group of friends together and head to one of the many socialite spots downtown. Check out The Hop Knot for evening activities, like open-mics, karaoke and trivia. While you’re there, peruse their weekend schedules for lively drag brunches and nighttime drag shows. Another option that’s just down the street is Shaskeen Pub, which offers trivia, weekly comedy nights and rap nights, all of which are sure to boost your mood.

“If you’re having a night, and you end up needing some 3 a.m. bar food, you have to check out Red Arrow Diner,” Ille says of the 24-hour restaurant that is home to decades of late-night memories. “The diner has this old-style bar with one row of seats,” she says. “If you’re going to wrap up a late night, Red Arrow is the place to do it.”

Rampage:

Hikaru Shida defeated Viva Van

Shida picked up the win after hitting a Falcon Arrow. This was both her first appearance and win in AEW since a mid-September episode of Rampage.

Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated Dark Order (John Silver & Alex Reynolds) and The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo) (w/ Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty and Trish Adora) in a three-way

Taven and Bennett got the pin on Reynolds after hitting their double-team finisher. After the match, Brian Cage came out to distract Taven and Bennett which led to Lance Archer attacking both men from behind. The heels dealt out a beatdown and left them both laying. After a few minutes, Roderick Strong then ran out and got the advantage on both guys, leading to Bennett and Taven recovering. The faces then sent the heels packing.

This was Dean & Bravo’s first AEW appearance since a Rampage match this past June. They joined Shane Taylor Promotions on last week’s ROH TV.

Top Flight (w/ Leila Grey and Action Andretti) defeated JD Drake & Beef

Darius and Dante Martin picked up the win after hitting their combo leg sweep/DDT on Beef. All four men were shaking hands afterward when Lio Rush came out and exchanged some words with the Top Flight crew.

Lio Rush defeated Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes)

This was a rematch from their late-October bout that Komander won. This was fine, but the crowd had mainly left by the time this started which didn’t help. There were lots of near falls near the end, but the end came when Rush hit his rope-assisted stunner and frog splash to get the win. Afterward, Rush shook Komander’s hand and showed respect.

Afterward, Taven and Bennett (both New England locals with Taven hailing originally from Derry which is 15 minutes away from Manchester) came back out to send the crowd home happy.
