Santa is flying in by helicopter to the Music City Mall on Saturday, Nov. 23. His arrival brings in a day of family fun and festivities this year including bounce houses, music, refreshments and more.
Guests can enjoy a cup of hot cocoa from the Chuck Wagon Gang and meet local personalities form radio stations such as KISS FM 103.3 and La Que Buena Radio 106.7.
Santa lands at MCM at approximately 10:30 a.m. After his landing, LA Roller Entertainment will be performing a live skate show at the Rink N’ Roll. Paid skaters will be able to meet the LA Roller Entertainment’s skaters, who performed alongside Usher at the Super Bowl Halftime show.
There may also be a sneak peek of Midland Festival Ballet’s The Nutcracker ballet. After the event, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for meet and greet photos. Santa will be at the MCM throughout the holiday season.
Parks Legado Christmas Market
The Parks Legado Christmas Market returns to Odessa this weekend. The market features festive sights, vendor shopping, ornament decorating events and more. Visitors can also expect live Christmas carols, Thomas the Train rides, and free visits with Santa.

The city of Midland and the Midland Downtown Park Conservancy at Centennial Park will feature their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The holiday festivities will feature a shopping market with local vendors, food trucks, live performances and pictures with Santa.
Cowboy Christmas at Betenbough Homes
Betenbough Homes will host their annual, free Christmas event on Dec. 5 at both the Odessa New Home Center and the Midland New Home Center from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“We are so excited to welcome the Permian community to both our Odessa and Midland New Home Centers again this year for free Santa photos,” said Charlie Cooke, Permian Basin area director.
Guests will receive access to a private photo gallery with their complimentary digital photos. Kids will be able to meet Santa, take photos with him and will receive a goody bag with Christmas crafts, stickers, cookies and a collectible ornament.
Odessa guests will receive a complimentary cup of coffee or hot cocoa from Chiaro Coffee Co., and Midland guests will receive complimentary coffee or hot cocoa from Coffee Jon.
Odessa’s event benefits Meals on Wheels and Midland’s event benefits Show of Support and the organizations will receive a $1 donation from Betenbough for every photo taken with Santa. The event is free and open to the public.
Santa’s Ice Cream Workshop
CreamLab N7 will host Santa’s Ice Cream Workshop in Midland on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Children will be able to engage in fun experiments, play with nitrogen and make their own Christmas ice cream with Santa and the Grinch.
Santa and the Grinch will also be available for photos. The ice cream workshop costs $25 per kid and will have limited class space. Reservations can be made at CreamLab N7 or by calling their phone 432-695-6342.
First Methodist Church’s Christmas in the Park
First Methodist Church of Midland will host a free Christmas in the Park on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - During the night of November 20, a cyber incident attacked the City of Odessa network.Because of the attack, the City of Odessa’s network has been down all day, but it is expected to be fixed by November 22. .The city’s cybersecurity team detected the attempt in progress last night and was able to shut it down before anything could get in or out of the system.“They were able to follow the protocols we have in place to ensure the security of our network,” said Craig Stoker, t...
ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - During the night of November 20, a cyber incident attacked the City of Odessa network.
Because of the attack, the City of Odessa’s network has been down all day, but it is expected to be fixed by November 22. .
The city’s cybersecurity team detected the attempt in progress last night and was able to shut it down before anything could get in or out of the system.
“They were able to follow the protocols we have in place to ensure the security of our network,” said Craig Stoker, the Odessa City Council Member At-Large.
Even though the attempt was detected and stopped, the cybersecurity team took the day to make sure the system was operating normally.
“To do a deep dive into our systems to make sure that nothing was infected and nothing is being held for ransom and that everything is operating as it should be. My understanding is so far so good. All the protocols we had in place worked,” Stoker said.
The city assures residents that none of their data was stolen.
As a result of the network being down, both the Municipal Court building and the Billing and Collection Department at City Hall has been closed all day.
The city assures residents that any payments due on November 21st will not be considered late.
Court dockets will have to be rescheduled, and there is no access to online payments, kiosks or window services.
“City Hall is a great group of folks who are working everyday to make sure that the city continues to provide the services that you need and it is a great team effort that makes those things happen,” said Stoker.
Magistration functions have been conducted using a paper system, with the computer portion completed at a later date.
That later date seems to be November 22.
“These are things we just have to be used to. This is why we have policies and procedures in place to detect and thort these kinds of things. They just happen. This is part of today’s world and I’m happy to know that the systems we had in place worked,” Stoker said.
Stoker updated First Alert 7 in a text around 3:15 pm, saying the initial report from the Cybersecurity Specialist looks positive and the estimated time to be up and running is around 5 am on Friday, November 22.

SAN ANGELO Carbon capture and removal project developers Return Carbon and Verified Carbon on Thursday announced “Project Concho,” a pioneering Direct Air Capture (DAC) hub to be built in Tom Green County. Project Concho will be the first DAC hub in the world to run entirely on wind power and will leverage advanced DAC technology as well as onsite geological carbon storage to capture and permanently remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. In its first phase, the facility aims to remove 50,000 tons annually before 2030, with expansion plans to reach 500,000 tons per year, in turn creating premium, verified carbon credits that hold significant value in carbon markets.
Project Concho will be powered by a new wind farm to be built and operated by Greenalia, a leading global renewable energy producer. The technology underpinning Project Concho will be provided by Skytree, an industry-leading carbon removal company born out of the European Space Agency with DAC units in deployment across Europe, Canada, and the United States.
“Project Concho is a significant step forward in scaling up DAC,” Martijn Verwoerd, Managing Director of Return Carbon, said in a news release. “This opportunity aligns perfectly with Return Carbon and Verified Carbon’s joint mission to mitigate climate change through the scalable commercialization of new technologies in impactful infrastructure projects. ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - The second annual Buckin’ K Bull Bash is Saturday, November 16.
After a successful first year, the bash has moved locations and added new activities for West Texas to enjoy.
The Buckin’ K Bull Bash is an open bull riding event that also includes live music, vendors and more.
“We don’t have any events with family around Odessa much anymore. There’s a couple things here and there but there’s nothing that is all ages,” said Kinslee Looney, the Organizer of the Buckin’ K Bull Bash.
Looney started the event last year to bring back a similar event to ones she enjoyed growing up.
Last year the bash drew in over 1,000 people.
After seeing reactions from the community at the event and receiving phone calls after it, Looney knew she had to bring it back for a second year.
“Just everyone telling me, Hey Kinslee, we had a great time,” Looney said.
Last year the bash was held on a friend of Looneys, personal property.
“It was pretty much his backyard and just the overall excitement we had and the crowd we had. I decided if we were going to do it again I definitely had to move to a venue that could accommodate everybody,” said Looney.
Because of the increasing interest, the event is being held at the Horse Arena at the Ector County Coliseum.
With the added space the Bull Bash has been able to add 25 vendors to the event.
Vendors were interested in joining last year, but there was no space for them.
Vendor spots are completely full, but Bull Riders and Sponsors still have the opportunity to join in on the event.
“Bull Riders, they’re welcome to walk up. We’re going to take 35 the day of and we’re also going to do a costume steer riding. We’re only taking 10 entries. Anybody can enter that. There’s a buckle and one of our vendors actually donated a hand hold book that is going to be given to the best dressed,” Looney said.
Tickets will only be sold at the gate.
General admission is $10 and kids eight and under are free.
Doors open at 5pm and Bull Riding starts at 7pm.
